COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Texas A&M Aggies (24-6, 7-2) ranked sixth in the country, outlasted the Missouri Tigers (13-11, 2-8) by a score of 2-1 at Simmons Field in 10 innings. Despite pitching 10 impressive innings, Jody Harris (3-3) was the tough luck loser for Missouri. Texas A&M's Chris Russ picked up the win in relief, his seventh of the season.
With the game scoreless in the bottom of the fourth inning, Missouri took a 1-0 lead on Aggies starter Casey Fossum. After a leadoff walk to Jake Epstein, Jon Williams (2-for-4) doubled into the right field gap to score Epstein. Harris cruised through six innings before giving up a run in the seventh inning. Lindsey Dell doubled and scored on a Shawn Schumacher single to tie the game 1-1.
Harris and Fossum battled through eight innings until Fossum was relieved after striking out 14 hitters and throwing over 140 pitches. In the top of the 10th inning, freshman shortstop Ryan Stegall committed an error on a ground ball hit by Steve Leonard to start the inning. With two outs, Harris gave up a single to left field to John Scheschuk to give the Aggies the lead.
Missouri put runners on first and second against Russ in the bottom of the 10th inning, but Russ struckout Mike Rallo swinging to end the thrilling contest.
