IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Jess Settles scored 16 points Saturday and No. 25 Iowa overcame ragged shooting to win its sixth straight game, an 82-68 victory over Missouri that snapped the Tigers' six-game winning streak.
Dean Oliver scored 14 points, Guy Rucker 12 and J.R. Koch 11 for the Hawkeyes (8-1), who broke into the rankings this week after defeating two other Big 12 Conference foes, Kansas and Iowa State, last week.
John Woods finished with 19 points, Albert White had 13 and Brian Grawer 10 for Missouri (7-2), which held the Hawkeyes to 42 percent shooting but imploded with 23 turnovers.
Jeff Hafer's free throw capped a 12-4 run by Missouri to open the second half and turn a 41-37 halftime deficit into a 49-45 lead with 14:31 to play. A 3-point shot by Jack Jaacks stopped the Missouri spurt and ignited a 15-0 run to give the Hawkeyes a 60-49 lead with 8:29 to play.
Missouri failed on three straight occasions to inbound the ball and Iowa scored points on each to pull away.
Consecutive jumpers by Woods brought the Tigers back to 60-53, but Settles nailed a 3-pointer from the right wing to extend the lead to 63-53 with 5:43 remaining and the Tigers failed to close.
In a 12-minute span, the Hawkeyes outscored Missouri 28-8, with Woods accounting for all the Tigers' points.
The game was marred by three technical fouls, including one each on Jaacks and Settles and one on the Missouri bench.
