Fields Named Female Big 12 Swimmer-of-the-Month

COLUMBIA, Mo.- Missouri freshman Katie Mae Fields was named the Big 12 Female Swimmer-of-the-Month on Thursday by the coaches of the Big 12 Conference. Fields literally rewrote the MU record books in leading the Tigers to a 5-0 dual record for the month as well as a first place finish at the Indiana Invite.
Fields broke the school record in teh 500 freestyle at the Illinois Dual Meet Extravaganza and then broke it again at the Indiana Invite (4 minutes, 55.69 seconds). She also broke the school record in the 1650 free (16:53.53) at Indiana. Fields also posted the second fastest time in school history in the 1000 freestyle (10:16.00) and the third fastest time in the 200 free (1:52.22). She was also on the 800 freestyle relay team that broke the school record at Indiana.
Fields collected five first place finishes in all in the month of November.
