The last three-sport athlete at Missouri, Bob Schoonmaker earned eight letters in football (1951-52-53), baseball (1952-53-54) and basketball (1953-54). An infielder from Lebanon, Missouri, Schoonmaker was an all-Big Seven Conference choice in 1954 when the Missouri baseball team won the College World Series for the school’s first national championship in any sport. He captained the football team in 1952 and ‘53 and was the last man to serve a two-year stint as captain before Dick Chapura did it in 1985 and ‘86.
