Mizzou Athletics Hall of Fame Nomination
OVERVIEW
The University of Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame is a highly selective organization. In order to maintain the Hall of Fame’s integrity, the standards governing the selection of Hall of Fame members will not be compromised. The selection process is completely confidential and the Hall of Fame Selection Committee will retain all information submitted.
QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify for consideration for the Mizzou Athletics Hall of Fame an individual must have been the recipient of at least one letter award, AND be at least five years removed from graduation of his/her class, PLUS meet one of the following requirements:
- STUDENT-ATHLETE
- Outstanding achievement in intercollegiate athletics:
- Selection to a recognized All-American team;
- Olympic medal winner;
- Olympic top-eight finisher;
- U.S. Olympic team member or another recognized nation;
- NCAA champion;
- NCAA top-six finisher;
- World/American or NCAA record performance;
- An NCAA statistical champion;
- Selection to an official All-Conference team;
- “Significant contributions to sports while at Mizzou or after, when the above criteria does not or could not apply.”
- Outstanding achievement in intercollegiate athletics:
- COACHES
- Tenure of at least five years in the department;
- Retirement or departure from the department of at least five years;
- Outstanding contributions to the Mizzou Athletic Department, which can include:
- Development of the program;
- Career record;
- National titles;
- National top-20 rankings;
- National achievements, such as, coach of the year, president of national coaches association, etc.;
- Developer of national champions in individual sports;
- Coached conference champions;
- Developer of Olympians and/or World, American or NCAA record holders;
- Developer of All-Americans;
- Preference given to those who were in compliance with NCAA/conference rules.
- ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATION
- Tenure of at least five years in the department;
- Retirement or departure from the department of at least five years;
- Outstanding contributions to the Mizzou Athletic Department, which can include:
- Facilities developed;
- People hired;
- Direction of the overall program under their administration;
- Performance of duties;
- Years of service;
- Stature in national organizations;
- Awards, honors won.
INSTRUCTIONS
To complete the nomination process, please follow the guidelines listed below:
- Complete the attached Nomination Form with current contact information for the nominee, as well as the person or party submitting the nomination.
- Give a career biography of the individual and note specific accomplishments that make this nominee worthy of induction into the Hall of Fame. Include years played/served, records, special honors and achievements, statistics and all background information pertaining to the nominee’s involvement with Mizzou Athletics, and beyond (if applicable).
- In addition to the nomination, a minimum of three (3) letters of recommendation, a photograph, and current contact information are required for the nominee. Please limit the letters of recommendation to one typewritten page. The photograph should be from the time period in which the nominee made his/her mark at Mizzou. Any supportive material, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, pictures, etc. Should not exceed 8½” x 11” format.
All information and letters of recommendation must be submitted at one time. Incomplete nominations will not be submitted to the Selection Committee. The nominee will not be notified unless selected. Nomination packets are taken on a rolling basis and will be processed as they are received. Please send all materials to:
