High School: Wrestling for Hannibal High School, Perry recorded three top-three finishes in state during his high school career, while helping his team finish sixth or higher during all four seasons. He was an All-American, and was named All-State on three separate occasions. In total, Perry earned 10 letters, as he also competed for the cross country squad and the golf team.

Personal: Phillip Perry was born to Devin and Jill Perry on June 30, 1992. His mother, Jill, graduated from Truman State University. His older brother, Tyler, is a senior on the Missouri wrestling team. He is majoring in secondary education and wants to be a teacher after graduation.
