Tigers continued traditional success in the classroom in 2018-19
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball was recognized for its collective success in the classroom with the 2018-19 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, announced Monday by the organization.
"Our program holds a high level of expectation for academics and the student-athletes did a phenomenal job this past school year of continuing that tradition," Mizzou Volleyball interim head coach Joshua Taylor said. "It takes a big commitment from the student-athletes, coaching staff and support staff in order to make this a reality. I'm very proud of everyone's hard work in accomplishing this!"
Mizzou concluded its 2018-19 academic calendar with a spring semester 3.57 grade point average. The total matched the program's highest-ever spring GPA on record. Additionally, the Tigers have surpassed a 3.0 collective GPA in 15 of their past 16 spring semesters at the University of Missouri.
Earlier this month, four Tigers from the 2018 squad were named to the 2019 First-Year Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll. That quartet joined the five individuals recognized in the 2018 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll in February.
Mizzou has regularly enjoyed high academic success rates in the classroom over the years. Beginning with the 2014-15 academic school year, the Tigers posted four consecutive 1,000 Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. Historically, Mizzou has surpassed a 3.0 team GPA in 25 of its past 29 combined fall and spring semesters at the University of Missouri.
