COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Wrestling 141-pounder Jaydin Eierman (Columbia, Mo.) was named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Year, announced by the league Wednesday. With a fourth-place finish at the 2018 NCAA Wrestling Championships, Eierman earned All-America honors for the second straight season as he became just the fifth wrestler in program history to earn back-to-back All-America honors in his freshman and sophomore campaigns.
Eierman's honor marks the fifth consecutive season a Tiger has been named MAC Wrestler of the Year as he joins J'den Cox (2014, 16-17) and Drake Houdashelt (2015).
Eierman wrestled to a fourth-place finish at 141 pounds at the NCAA Wrestling Championships to earn his second consecutive All-America honor. The Tiger sophomore recorded a record of 4-2 in Cleveland, and knocked off two top-10 ranked wrestlers in the process to his second podium finish. At the MAC Championships, Eierman won his second MAC title, winning two matches by fall before defeating No. 10-ranked Mason Smith (Central Michigan) by 24-9 technical fall (4:56) in the championship bout.
Eierman posted a 32-3 record over the season, as two of his three defeats came to both NCAA finalists at 141 pounds. The Tiger sophomore was a bonus point machine in his second season, as he won 24 matches by bonus points, including 16 falls, which rank ninth all-time in program history for falls in a season. Eierman was a perfect 16-0 in duals this season, as his 79 points ranked second while his eight falls in dual competition ranked tied-for-first on the team. Overall, Eierman defeated 10 ranked wrestlers in 2017-18, including a 9-6 win over eventual National Champion Yianni Diakomihalis (Cornell) at the South Beach Duals (Dec. 30), and a pin over two-time defending National Champion Dean Heil (Oklahoma State) in a Jan. 27 dual to help the Tigers beat No. 5 Oklahoma State, 21-19. Eierman's win over Heil helped him earn MAC and NCAA Wrestler of the Week honors.
In 2016-17, Eierman was named MAC Freshman of the Year after winning his first MAC title and finishing fifth at 141 pounds at the NCAA Wrestling Championships to earn his first All-America honor. The then-freshman produced a record of 29-7 in his first season as an attached wrestler, and won 16 matches by bonus points.

Among top-10 program lists, Eierman needs three more technical falls, six more falls and 11 more major decisions to join Mizzou's top-10.
