
@MizzouGym Selected to NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 22 Mizzou gymnastics team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to compete at the 2018 NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional on Saturday, April 7 at 4 p.m. CT, the NCAA announced on Monday afternoon. The bid marks the Tigers' fourth-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance and the 28th overall bid in program history.
The No. 4 seed, Mizzou will compete against No. 1 seed Alabama, No. 2 seed Michigan, No. 3 seed Georgia, No. 5 seed Illinois and No. 6 seed Central Michigan. As the four-seed, Mizzou will begin the meet on a bye, then advance to bars and beam in the second and third rotations, respectively. The Tigers then have a bye before heading to floor in the fifth rotation and will conclude the meet on vault.
The Tigers recorded three top 10 wins over the 2018 season, with two over Arkansas and one over Florida. The 196.925-196.700 win over No. 5 Florida marked the team's first-ever victory over the Gators, as as Missouri entered the contest 0-22 in the series. Earlier in the season, Mizzou posted a 196.325-196.150 home win over the No. 10 Razorbacks on Jan. 19 at the Hearnes Center and a 196.025-195.525 victory over the same Arkansas team at the Mardi Gras Invitational on Feb. 16.
Most recently, Missouri scored finished seventh at the 2018 Southeastern Conference Championship with a 196.100. The score was the third-highest conference championship total in program history and the highest output since 2004.

A total of six teams, five all-around competitors (who are not on a qualifying team) and two individual event specialist per event [who has a minimum Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 9.4] were named to each of the predetermined host sites (Columbus, Minneapolis, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, Tuscaloosa and University Park).
The top 18-teams are seeded nationally, based on RQS, and placed into the bracket. Teams 19-36 are placed geographically at one of the six regional sites. Seeding determined at the time of regional selections will be maintained throughout the championships. All-around competitors and event specialists are assigned to their respective geographic region.
The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in St. Louis, Missouri, April 20-21, hosted by Missouri and the St. Louis, Sports Commission. The top two teams from the Minneapolis, Salt Lake City and University Park regionals will compete in the first semifinal and the top two teams from the Columbus, Raleigh and Tuscaloosa regionals will compete in the other semifinal.
In addition, the event winners at each regional site will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or an all-around qualifier.
