COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball head coach Steve Bieser has added three members to his staff for the upcoming 2018 season. Jae Fadde joins the program as the Director of Player Development following a seven-year stint at Texas A&M while Jonathan Roof and Austin Tribby join the program as a volunteer assistant and graduate manger, respectively. Tribby of course was a standout LHP for Mizzou from 2013-16 while Roof was most recently a student assistant coach at Michigan State, his alma mater where he three-year letterwinner before being selected in the 2010 MLB Draft.
Jae Fadde, a seven-year SEC veteran and five-year SEC baseball veteran, joins Mizzou Baseball in a newly-created position in 2018, serving as the Director of Player Development. Mizzou head coach Steve Bieser added Fadde to his staff after a seven-year stint as Texas A&M's assistant video coordinator for both the football and baseball programs.
"We are excited to add Jae and his wife Lindsey to our family here at Mizzou," Bieser said. "Jae has been on the cutting edge of technology and video in sports for years and brings a wealth of knowledge that will undoubtedly help our coaching staff. He was a key cog in Texas A&M's transition to the SEC with both the baseball and football programs and he has a tremendous amount of baseball experience. I will look forward to Jae helping us to continue to develop in the areas of video and technology."
Roof, a Paducah, Kentucky, native, started all 160 games that he played in during his three-year career for Jake Boss at Michigan State. He was selected in the eighth round of the 2010 draft by the Texas Rangers and embarked on a six-year professional career, reaching AAA Pawtucket in the Boston Red Sox organization. He returned to Michigan State in 2016 to join Coach Boss' staff before joining Mizzou's staff in 2018, serving as the volunteer assistant with a focus on defensive development.
"I am thrilled to have Jonathan join our staff. His wealth of knowledge and experience in the game, both collegiately and in the professional ranks, will help us," Bieser said. "He was a great player at Michigan State and he was the type of guy who maximized his skillset every day. He is someone that our players can look up to and hopefully embody his competitive spirit."
Tribby was a standout lefty at Mizzou from 2013-16, becoming a dependable bullpen arm before being drafted as a senior in the 35th round by the Minnesota Twins. With 31 appearances in both the 2014 and 2015 seasons, Tribby is one of the most durable arms in Mizzou Baseball history, ranking 10th all-time in appearances in a single season with his 31 in each campaign. His 91 career pitching appearances rank fifth in program history. Tribby comes back to Mizzou to earn his master's degree following a brief minor league career.
"Any time you can have a former player come back and join you program, it's great," Bieser said. "Tribby was a great competitor at Mizzou and pitched his entire career in the SEC, so he is going to be a great guy to have around as our pitchers can really lean on him for advice and mentorship."
Mizzou will officially open the season Feb. 16 in Miami, Fla., for a three-game series with Florida International. Mizzou's home schedule will begin Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. against Alabama A&M.
