Four More from @MizzouBaseball Selected on Final Day of MLB Draft

Mizzou’s five draft selections are its most since 2006 when six Tigers were selected
NEW YORK – On the final day of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft, four Mizzou Baseball standouts heard their name called. Junior RHP Bryce Montes De Oca (Lawrence, Kan.) was taken in the 15th round (No. 463 overall) by the Washington Nationals. Junior INF Robbie Glendinning (Scarborough, Australia) was taken in the 21st round (No. 628) by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Junior C Brett Bond (St. Louis, Mo.) was selected in the 23rd round (No. 691) by the Houston Astros. Redshirt junior RHP Cole Bartlett (Williamsburg, Ind.) went in the 25th round (No. 742 overall) to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
For Mizzou, the 2017 team produced five drafted players, matching the most for a Mizzou team since 2006 when six players were selected.
Montes De Oca enjoyed a breakout season in his first as a starter. Coming off an injury that forced him to miss the 2016 season, Montes De Oca started 12 games and made 15 appearances, spanning 61.0 innings. Batters continually struggle to square him up all season, hitting just .205 against him with only 15 extra-base hits, the fewest among any Mizzou starter. He won four games and boasted a 4.28 ERA.

Glendinning had just one year in a Mizzou uniform after rewriting the record books at Northern Iowa Area Community College. He was one of Mizzou's best hitters, batting .274 while slugging a team-best 13 doubles with seven homers and two triples. He hit a grand slam in Mizzou's SEC Tournament win over Texas A&M and was SEC Player of the Week back in March after turning in a pair of walk-off, game-winning hits during Mizzou's 20-game win streak.

Bond, Mizzou's primary catcher for the last three seasons, is coming off his best season as a Tiger during his junior campaign. Bond hit a career-high .307 in 58 games and drove in 45 runs with 23 extra-base hits (13 doubles and 10 homers). He reset career-highs in batting, slugging, OBP, hits, doubles, homers, RBI and runs scored. He also handled a Mizzou pitching staff that produced its best staff ERA since 2006.

Bartlett was Mizzou's junkyard dog on the mound all year long. He earned SEC Pitcher of the Week and a pair of National Pitcher of the Week awards after a complete game, one-hit shutout over Tennessee during the final weekend of the season. He went 6-3 over 19 appearances (five starts) and had a 3.19 ERA in 79.0 innings, resetting career-highs in virtually every pitching category as a junior. He even threw a pair of complete games in SEC games, earning wins in each start.
