Tiger senior came out of retirement to fill starting lineup hole for Mizzou in 16-17
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Mizzou Wrestling redshirt senior 184-pounder Matt Lemanowicz (Lee's Summit, Mo.) has been named a 2017 National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-American Athlete of the Year recipient. Lemanowicz, nominated by Mizzou Strength and Conditioning Coach Mike Larson, recognizes his athletic accomplishments dedicated to strength training.
After briefly retiring following the 2015-16 season to pursue opportunities outside of wrestling, Lemanowicz was added back to the Mizzou roster after a slew of injuries to Mizzou's upper weights. Lemanowicz, who wrestled at 157 and 165 pounds in the early stages of his career, was inserted into Mizzou's starting lineup at 184 pounds and filled the void for the remainder of the season. The Tiger senior finished fourth at 184 pounds at the Mid-American Conference Championships and ended his career with a record of 50-44.
Lemanowicz graduated in May 2016 and is currently pursuing his master's degree in Nutrition and Exercise Psychology. He was named to the MAC Honor five times (2013-17), received All-MAC Academic Honors in April and is a member of Mizzou's exclusive Three Stripes Club.
