COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri gymnastics sophomore Britney Ward (Ozark, Missouri) claimed two All-America honors on the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) Regular Season All-America list, the organization announced. Ward, a second team selection on beam in 2016, earned second team honors on both vault and beam from the NACGC/W.
Regular season All-Americans are determined by final regional qualifying score (RQS) standings following conference championships competition. The top eight gymnasts on each event and in the all-around receive first team honors, while the next eight, including ties, earn spots on the second team.
Ward narrowly missed first team honors on both events, as she finished the regular season ranked tied for ninth on vault (9.915 RQS) and tied for 10th on beam (9.925 RQS). Over the season, she totaled 13 scores of 9.9 or better on the two events, including seven on vault and six on beam. Over a three-week span late in the season Ward tallied beam scores of 9.950 at Florida, 9.950 against Auburn and a career-high 9.975 against Kentucky, the latter of which tied the third-highest score in program history on the event. She also earned a 9.950 on vault at the State of Missouri Meet to tie Mizzou's fourth-highest vault score in school history.
Ward won a team-high 12 events titles on the season, with six apiece on vault and beam. Her event titles included wins against Southeastern Conference foes Auburn (vault and beam), Kentucky (vault and beam), Alabama (vault), Alabama (vault), Florida (beam) and Georgia (beam). She now owns 24 career event titles.
She claimed second team honors on beam as a freshman in 2016 after finishing the regular season tied for 15th nationally on the event with a 9.900 RQS.
Ward and the Tigers head to NCAA Regional competition on Saturday, April 1 at 3 p.m. CT in Gainesville, Florida.
