No. 13 @MizzouGym Records a 196.750 For The Second-Best Road Score in Program History

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 13 Missouri gymnastics team recorded the sixth-highest team score in program history as the team tallied a 196.750 at No. 3 Florida on Friday night in Gainesville, Florida. Despite a loss to the Gators (197.900), the Tigers' score also stands as the second-best road score in school history and the highest team total since 2010.
Mizzou's score was highest since the squad went 196.875 against Illinois State on Feb. 26, 2010, while it was the highest road tally since the Tigers scored a 197.473 at Texas Women's on March 12, 2004.
Sophomore Britney Ward (Ozark, Missouri) used a career-high 9.950 on beam to win her team-leading eighth event title of the season. Her 9.950 also ties for the third-best beam score in team history.
Missouri started the meet with a bang, tallying a 49.175 on bars, the second-best score on the event this season. Juniors Shauna Miller (Knoxville, Tennessee) and Becca Schugel (Eagan, Minnesota) both earned team-high 9.875s, which were season-bests for both Tigers. Sophomore Brooke Kelly (Birmingham, Alabama) also went a season-best score with a 9.850, while freshman Aspen Tucker (Lehigh Acres, Florida) earned a 9.800 and sophomore Madeleine Huber (St. Louis, Missouri) went 9.775.
On vault in the second rotation, the Tigers earned a 49.225 as a team, also the second-highest event score of the year for the squad. Ward tallied her fifth score of 9.900 or better on the event in 2017 with a team-best 9.900. Junior Kennedi Harris (Atlanta, Georgia) and Miller claimed scores of 9.850, which was a season-high for Miller, while Huber went 9.825 and senior Angie Kern (Columbia, Missouri) and Tucker posted 9.800s.
The Tigers went 49.175 on floor in the third rotation. Harris notched a 9.925 in the anchor spot to tie her season-best and notch her sixth 9.900 or higher on the event this season. Also shining was Schugel, who earned a career-best 9.900 to best her previous high of 9.875 from her freshman campaign. Huber added a 9.800.
Missouri concluded the night on beam with a 49.175, which tied for the team's highest score on the apparatus this year. Ward, in Mizzou's last routine of the meet, notched her career-best 9.950 for her fourth tally of 9.900 or higher on the season. Kelly and sophomore Allison Bower (Mesa, Arizona) both notched 9.850s, which was a career-best for Bower. Additionally, Tucker earned a 9.800.
The Tigers return home to the Hearnes Center on Friday, March 3 when the team hosts No. 14 Auburn at 7 p.m. CT.
