Myers won four Kentucky State Titles at Campbell County High School
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Wrestling Head Coach Brian Smith announced on Tuesday the addition of heavyweight Austin Myers (Alexandria, Ky.), a four-time Kentucky High School State Champion and three-time National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) National Champion. Myers, a transfer from West Virginia, will be eligible immediately after being granted a full release.
"Austin is a very talented young man. He has a great work ethic and commitment to the sport of wrestling," said Coach Smith. "I am looking forward to getting him up to Mizzou and training with the team."
In addition to four Kentucky state titles and three NHSCA national titles, Myers earned All-American honors at the 2014 Fargo Junior Freestyle Tournament, won the 220-pound championship at the 2015 FloWrestling Nationals and was named the 2015 NHSCA Wrestling Athlete of the Year. Following a highly successful high school career, Myers was ranked as the No. 25-ranked recruit for the class of 2015 by FloWrestling.
As a redshirt with the Mountaineers, Myers wrestled in five open tournaments, posting a 21-8 record with three falls and a major decision. His highest finish occurred at the Clarion Open in November, where Myers finished second following a 4-1 performance.
