Tigers' first round game set for Wednesday morning

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 14 Mizzou Softball (39-13, 14-10 SEC) begins postseason play on Wednesday, May 11, in Starkville, Miss., for the 2016 Southeastern Conference Softball Tournament.
The Tigers' victory on Sunday, May 8, secured the No. 6 seed in this year's SEC Tournament, as they will face No. 11 seed South Carolina in the first round on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. (CT) and the game will broadcast live on SEC Network.
With a win on Wednesday, the Tigers would meet No. 3 seed Tennessee on Thursday, May 12, in second round action. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. (CT) and will once again broadcast live on SEC Network.
Mizzou's potential semifinal matchup on Friday, May 13, is scheduled for 2 p.m. (CT) on ESPNU. The SEC Tournament championship contest is slated for Saturday, May 14, with first pitch at 4 p.m. (CT). Fans can follow the title game live on ESPN.
LOWARY SECURES SERIES WIN AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA
- The Tigers took two-of-three against South Carolina from May 6-8 at University Field, claiming its third consecutive SEC series.
- Sophomore Paige Lowary was magnificent in the circle on Sunday, May 8, tossing a complete game shutout against the Gamecocks. Lowary earned her team-leading 22nd victory and 11th complete game of the year.
- Mizzou's series triumph over South Carolina marked its fifth SEC series win this season. It joined previous series wins over Ole Miss (March 11-13), No. 16 Tennessee (April 1-3), No. 16 Texas A&M (April 23-25) and Mississippi State (April 29 – May 1).
MIZZOU AT THE SEC SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
- The Tigers went 1-1 at the 2015 SEC Softball Tournament, claiming a 9-0 win in the first round over Mississippi State and falling 5-2 in the second round against Auburn.
- Mizzou fell in the first round of the 2014 SEC Softball Tournament, dropping a 6-0 matchup to LSU.
- The Tigers' top run in the SEC Softball Tournament occurred in 2013, as they reached the championship game. Mizzou ultimately finished runner-up in that year's tournament, losing only to Florida.
