@MizzouGym Signs Three to National Letters of Intent

Mizzou’s three signees will join the team for the 2017 season

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mizzou gymnastics team signed three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent, Head Coach Shannon Welker announced on Thursday (Nov. 12). Rachel Ley (Trophy Club, Texas), Aspen Tucker (Leigh Acres, Fla.) and Alyssa Johnson (Rogers, Minn.) will all enroll at the University of Missouri and join the Tigers for the 2017 campaign.

"We are very excited about these future Tigers," Welker said. "They bring a lot of powerful and dynamic gymnastics along with a true passion to compete. We cannot wait to see the positive impact they have on Mizzou Gymnastics and our culture of excellence!"

I am very interested in going into the medical field after my gymnastics career is finished and Mizzou offers a great undergrad and Medical School. Not only would I be exceling in my gymnastics at Missouri but I would be excelling in my academics as well. The Total Person Program at Mizzou is outstanding and I'm excited to attend next year!"

  • Finished third on vault at the 2013 JO National Invitational Tournament
  • Boasts Level 10 career high scores of 38.025 in the all-around, 9.725 on vault, 9.575 on bars, 9.525 on beam and 9.575 on floor
  • Attends Fort Myers High School
  • Father played professional baseball for seven different teams, including the Kansas City Royals and Atlanta Braves

  • Won the 2011 and 2012 Level 9 Region 4 bar titles
  • Boasts career best Level 10 scores of 38.000 in the all-around, 9.750 on vault, 9.525 on bars, 9.575 on beam and 9.625 on floor
