
Tigers Best Centenary in Mizzou Pink Out

Columbia, Mo. - Pairing success in the competitive arena with the fight against breast cancer, #28 Mizzou Tigers first annual Pink Out kicked off the 2005 Missouri home gymnastics season on a high note. In addition to seeing the Tigers best Centenary 191.275-188.225 to take their season record to 2-4, Mizzou helped raise over $1,500 toward breast cancer awareness and research efforts at Ellis Fischel Cancer Hospital.
Continually look to reach new heights, the Tigers topped a new season mark on vault scoring a 48.650. Tying individual season highs, Alisha Robinson led the event scoring a 9.850 to win the individual vault title while Whitney Crater shined scoring a 9.800 to finish second. Hitting solid vaults across the board, Lauren Schwartzman (9.700), Ashley Khederian (9.675), Kelley Andersen (9.625) and Jodie Heinicka (9.600) swept the top six.
Moving through the next two rotations, the Tigers scored a 46.825 on bars and a 47.450 on beam. Topping Mizzou, Andersen scored season highs to win the uneven bar title (9.650) and finish second on beam (9.675). Additionally bolstering the Tiger effort, Schwartzman claimed the beam title scoring a 9.750, while Khederian and fellow newcomer Julie Abaray augmented Mizzou on bars scoring a 9.625 and 9.500, respectively.
Finishing the meet with a strong showing on floor, the Tigers scored a 48.350 seeing six solid routines. Pairing for another one, two three individual finish, Robinson led the field scoring a 9.800, Crater finished second with a 9.750 and Schwartzman scored a 9.725 to finish third. Rounding out the rotation, Khederian scored a 9.550, Sarah Zigler scored a 9.525 and Abaray scored a 9.500.
Taking top seed in the all-around competition, Khederian picked up her second meet title scoring a 38.175 while Robinson finished second with a 37.825.
Keeping to a two-meet home stint, the Tigers host the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Fri., Jan. 28 at 7:00 p.m., in the Hearnes Center.
