The win improved MU to 6-0 and keyed the Tigers’ eventual run to the first of two consecutive SEC Eastern Division titles…
- In the 4th quarter, QB James Franklin was knocked out of the game on a late hit, but freshman QB Maty Mauk came in and guided the Tigers home to the win, with the key play being a gadget play called “Colt 45” where WR Bud Sasser took a lateral pass from Mauk, and launched a 40-yard TD pass to fellow wide out L’Damian Washington for a 34-26 lead with 9:22 left in the game…

- Mizzou rode a punishing ground game and a stingy defense to a 17-3 halftime lead, on the strength of short TD runs by RB Henry Josey (4 yards) and RB Marcus Murphy (3 yards) and an Andrew Baggett 33-yard field goal…
- Ole Miss opened the 3rd quarter by driving for their only TD of the night to shrink the Tiger lead to 17-10, but Mizzou answered with an 85-yard drive capped by a 10-yard TD run from Josey for a 24-10 lead, and Mizzou would hold the ball for 12:10 in a scoreless 4th quarter to close the game out in impressive fashion…

- RB Henry Josey delivered one of the signature plays in Tiger history when he took a 3rd-and-1 handoff and scampered 57 yards up the middle for a touchdown with just 3:34 left in the game to break a 21-21 tie. His score would hold up as the game-winner, thanks to a three-and-out forced by the underrated Tiger defense on A&M’s ensuing possession. Mizzou would run out the clock and celebrate a berth in the SEC Championship Game with thousands of Tiger fans who rushed the field as the clock hit zero to the sounds of Ray Charles’ “Georgia on My Mind” playing over the stadium sound system…
- The visiting Aggies kept the sellout crowd on edge all night, as they took a 7-0 lead early in the game, and held a 14-7 lead at half. After Mizzou scored twice in the 3rd quarter (on a 2-yard Marcus Murphy run and a 5-yard TD pass from James Franklin to L’Damian Washington), A&M drove 98 yards for a game-tying touchdown with just 10:43 left to play, setting up Josey for his heroics that sent the Tigers to Atlanta…

- Mizzou wrapped up a magical season in fitting fashion, with an exciting 41-31 win over formal conference rival – 13th-ranked Oklahoma State – to win the Cotton Bowl and finish the year at a record 12-2 and ranked 4th in the final polls. The win cemented this team as one of the top in program history…
- It was a tight game the whole way; with Mizzou taking a 7-0 lead late in the 1st quarter on a 3-yard Henry Josey TD run. The Tigers would add a 24-yard TD pass from reserve QB Maty Mauk to Marcus Lucas and a 35-yard Andrew Baggett field goal at the gun to take a 17-7 halftime lead into the locker room at the immaculate AT&T Stadium – new home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys…
- The score stood 17-14 in favor of the Tigers after three quarters of play – and then a track meet opened up, as the teams combined to score 41 points in the final 15 minutes. OSU tied the game at 17 early in the third, but the Tigers answered with another Josey run (from 25 yards out) to reclaim the lead. The Cowboys tied it up with a score but Mizzou answered with a Baggett field goal from 46 yards out with just 6:29 to play for a 27-24 lead. State struck quickly on a 75-yard drive to take its only lead of the game, at 31-27 with 5:04 to play, only to see Mizzou respond once again with a 69-yard scoring drive capped by Josey’s third rushing TD (16 yards) and a 34-31 lead with 3:08 left…
- The dramatics weren’t over, however, as OSU QB Clint Chelf engineered a drive all the way to the Tiger 23-yardline in the final moments. Needing a field goal to tie and a touchdown to win, the Cowboys were stymied by Mizzou’s big-play defense. All-American DE Michael Sam got around the edge on a 3rd-and-7 snap to sack Chelf and jar the ball loose. Fellow DE Shane Ray scooped the ball up at the Tiger 27-yardline and raced untouched 73 yards for a game-clinching touchdown with just :55 seconds to play…

- Sept. 27, 2014 – Mizzou 21, at #13 South Carolina 20
- Mizzou improved to 4-1 on the young season in its SEC opener at 13th-ranked South Carolina, upsetting the Gamecocks 21-20. It was anything but a routine win for the Tigers, however, as they needed the biggest fourth-quarter comeback in program history to get it done, overcoming a 20-7 deficit with a pair of 1-yard Russell Hansbrough TD runs in the final 6:49 of play…
- Hansbrough scored all three Tiger touchdowns in the game, as he played hero for an offense that was kept in check for most of the night. He scored from 18 yards out early in the 1st quarter to give the Tigers a quick 7-0 lead, but then it was all Carolina from there, as the Gamecocks scored 20 unanswered points to take a 20-7 lead with just 7:25 left to play in the game…
- To that point in the game, Mizzou’s offense had mustered only 161 yards of total offense, making a comeback seem unlikely. However, the Tigers erupted with consecutive passes from QB Maty Mauk of 41 yards to WR Bud Sasser and 26 yards to WR Wesley Leftwich to take the ball to the Carolina 1-yardline, from where Hansbrough punched it in with 6:49 to play to cut the Carolina lead to 20-14. The drive covered 68 yards in three plays and took only :36 seconds…
- The Tiger defense bowed up to force a quick three-and-out, and Mizzou got the ball back with 4:40 remaining at its own 49-yardline. Mauk would hit TE Sean Culkin for a 4th-down conversion early in the possession to keep hope alive, and RB Marcus Murphy would hit a 22-yard run up the middle to get the ball to the Carolina 2-yardline.With about two minutes left, the Tigers tried three runs but netted only one yard. Facing a 4th-and-goal from the 1-yardline, Hansbrough finally broke through when he just got over the goal line with 1:36 to play, and after PK Andrew Baggett nailed the point after, Mizzou suddenly held an improbable 21-20 lead. The defense would make it hold up with a four-and-out series by the Gamecocks, and the Tiger offense would run out the clock in Victory Formation…
- Tiger leaders:
- QB Maty Mauk – 12-34, 132 yards…
- RB Marcus Murphy – 16 rushes, 98 yards…
- WR Bud Sasser – 6 receptions, 86 yards…
- LB Kentrell Brothers – 10 tackles, 2.0 TFLs, 2 PBUs…

- Nov. 28, 2014 – #17 Mizzou 21, vs. Arkansas 14
- Needing a home win on senior night to clinch the SEC Eastern Division for the second-straight year, the 17th-ranked Tigers fell behind Arkansas 14-3 early, but scored the final 18 points of the game to claim a 21-14 win that gave MU its 10th win of the season and the East crown with a 7-1 conference mark…
- The visiting Razorbacks, who would end up with seven wins on the season, had no interest in rolling over for the favored Tigers, and they took their first drive of the game 70 yards for a quick 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter.Mizzou responded with a 52-yard field goal by PK Andrew Baggett, but Arkansas took advantage of a short field set up by a long punt return and scored again for a 14-3 lead. The Tiger offense would drive for a crucial field goal at the first half gun, with Baggett hitting from 50 yards out this time, to make it 14-6 Arkansas at the half…
- The 3rd quarter seemed as if it was all Arkansas, as the Razorbacks reached Mizzou territory on all three of their possessions in the frame, but the Tiger defense won the battles, making a pair of 4th-down stops on two of them, and forcing a punt on the third. The Tiger offense took over on its own 2-yardline late in the quarter and put together an impressive drive that lasted 10 plays and ended with a 4-yard TD pass from QB Maty Mauk to WR Jimmie Hunt with 12:41 left in the game, and after a successful 2-point conversion pass from WR Bud Sasser on and end around to WR Darius White, the game was suddenly deadlocked at 14 apiece…
- After forcing a Razorback punt, MU’s offense again put together a masterful drive, going 85 yards in 12 plays for a touchdown (a 12-yard run by RB Marcus Murphy) to take a 21-14 lead with just 4:38 to play. Arkansas wasn’t done making Tiger fans sweat, however, as it promptly drove to the Mizzou 37-yardline with 2:30 left in the game.Once again, the defense answered the challenge, as LB Kentrell Brothers forced a fumble that was recovered by DE Markus Golden on the Tiger 35-yardline with 2:13 left in the game. The play was initially ruled down by contact, but after Golden emphatically motioned that the play should be reviewed, the instant replay that followed confirmed Golden’s assertion that the ball came out and officials awarded Mizzou the ball…
- The Tigers would kill the clock the rest of the way and celebrate their second-straight division title and trip to the SEC Championship Game…
- Tiger leaders:
- QB Maty Mauk – 25-42 passing, 265 yards, 1 TD…
- RB Russell Hansbrough – 20 rushes, 91 yards…
- WR Bud Sasser – 9 receptions, 127 yards…
- LB Kentrell Brothers – 11 tackles, 1 forced fumble…

- Jan. 1, 2015 – #16 Mizzou 33, vs. #25 Minnesota 17 (Citrus Bowl)
- After spotting underdog Minnesota a 7-0 first quarter lead, the 16th-ranked Tigers got untracked and scored 33 of the game’s final 43 points in the final three periods to pull away for a convincing 33-17 win which capped an 11-3 season…
- QB Maty Mauk hit WR Bud Sasser on a 25-yard TD pass with one minute left in the second quarter to give the Tigers a 10-7 halftime lead. Head Coach Gary Pinkel would then dial up his bag of tricks to open the second half, ordering a surprise onside kick that was recovered by the Tigers. That resulted in PK Andrew Baggett’s 33-yard field goal to open scoring in the third. The Golden Gophers would take a 14-13 lead on a long touchdown pass on the next possession, but the seasoned Tigers didn’t panic, and they controlled the game from there, scoring on a Mauk 18-yard run (where he trucked a Minnesota defender at the goal line), and a pair of 4th-quarter TDs to pull away…
- Leading 19-17 entering the final period, RB Russell Hansbrough burst free up the middle for a 78-yard run to make it 26-17 Tigers with 9:22 to play. Minnesota drove into MU territory on its ensuing possession, but a sack by eventual MVP Markus Golden derailed the drive and led to a Gopher punt. The Tiger offense would in turn ice the game with an 80-yard drive capped by Mauk’s second TD pass to Sasser, this time from seven yards out with 4:51 to play to account for the final score…
- Golden would close out his stellar Tiger career by winning game MVP honors for his 10-tackle day that included 4.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks, along with a forced fumble…

- Nov. 3, 2018 – Mizzou 38, at #13 Florida 17
- One week after a gut-wrenching and controversial last-play home loss to Kentucky, there were few who gave the Tigers much of a chance as they traveled to the Swamp as decided underdogs to face the 13th-ranked Florida Gators. When the dust settled, however, the upstart Tigers proved resilient as they claimed a convincing 38-17 road win that improved them to 5-4 on the season and marked the program’s largest road win over a ranked team since 1976 (a 46-25 win at 8th-ranked USC)…
- Mizzou used a balanced offensive attack on the day, as five different Tigers found the end zone on a pair of touchdown runs and a trio of scoring passes by QB Drew Lock. The first score came late in the first quarter when RB Larry Rountree III burst off left tackle for a 27-yard touchdown that gave MU a 7-3 lead. That was the first of three-straight Tiger scores that gave them a 21-3 lead.Rountree’s score was followed early in the 2nd quarter when Lock found TE Albert Okwuegbunam for a 22-yard TD on a seam route, and after a defensive stop, RB Damarea Crockett capped a 78-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run…
- After the Gators drove for a touchdown right before halftime to make it 21-10, the Tigers put the hammer down in the third quarter, scoring on consecutive drives to post an insurmountable 35-10 lead. The first touchdown came on a beautiful post route from Lock to WR Kam Scott that covered 41 yards to make it 28-10 and that was followed by a 4-yard strike from Lock to WR Emanuel Hall that came with 5:00 left in the third period.Florida would drive for a score but the Tiger defense would not allow anything further on the day, and PK Tucker McCann accounted for the final score with a 4th-quarter field goal from 40 yards out. The upset win kick started the Tigers to a big stretch run that saw them win the final four games of the regular season to post the program’s first 8-win campaign since 2014…
