Mizzou Head Coach Gary Pinkel
Opening Statement:
"First of all congratulations to Florida. They played well, they did the things necessary to win the football game. Obviously very, very frustrated. We're doing a lot of good things, but obviously you can't make some mistakes that we had. On both scoring drives you get 15-yard penalties. When you help a good team like that, you can't do that. Obviously offensively we're still having some problems and defensively I thought we battled, but how we handle things as a football team is you, we're going to break them all up and get things fixed, and that's what we have to do. But bottom line we win and lose as a team. We've got some frustrated guys, guys that are hurting, which is good, it's okay. We've got half a season left, a lot of good things out there, so we're going to work hard to try and get them finished."
On how much Florida's defense had to do with the offensive struggles:
"I think they are a really good defensive football team. I think Mizzou is a really good defensive football team. So that's the good news coming out of this. We just made mistakes they didn't make. I think their quarterback [Will Grier] did some good things. It's a 10-point game until the second half. The turnover for a touchdown, that's difficult and that's something that's not very good but that's just the difference in the game. Two turnovers, they had none and they moved the ball better than us. But both sides played pretty good defense."
On Drew Lock's performance:
"There's a lot of things, we have to go back and evaluate it. You can point to quarterbacks all you want. He's going to learn from it, it's not going to be the first or last interception. It's going to make him better but that's something you deal with as a young quarterback. You can give their defense a lot of credit, they're very, very good. But we have to execute better and in a game where it's close, and this was a close football game, you can't have 15-yard penalties on scoring drives. You've also got to protect the football."
On if they saw anything defensively that they didn't expect:
"No. They did make some little adjustments here and there, and I explained it, but it's really not that significant. They out executed us. We were very poor on third downs, mostly on the third-and-longs. You give yourself a lot of long-yardage situations, it's not very good."

MU Player Quotes
Mizzou Center Evan Boehm
On the play of the offensive line:
"I definitely put the play of the offensive line on myself, as a captain, as a team leader, as an offensive guy that's had 46 starts now. We didn't play the way we needed to play. It's all about confidence, it's all about fundamentals and technique, and I don't think we did a very good job of that tonight. It's time to go to work now, and we have to do something different. We have to find something within ourselves to find something and do something bigger."
On Florida's defensive line:
"In the SEC you're going to face a great defensive line every single week, and they all bring different things to the table. This week they brought the twist, they brought the hands, and they came off the football. I don't think we were as prepared as we needed to be. Like I said before, I put that on myself and put that on the preparation that these guys went through."
On Florida:
"Florida is a great team, they have a great front seven - a dominant front seven. We knew that going into the game and we saw that on Sunday when we watched film on them, Monday and this whole week when we watched film on them. We have to be ready for that kind of defensive line. We play in a great, great, great, great conference. If we keep on playing like that, we're not going to be very good."
On offensive coordinator Josh Henson:
"I trust in what Coach Henson does. Coach Henson, his play calling and what the coaches call, the ability that he has to make calls. He's a great play caller, he's a great coach, and we have to buy into that. We have to trust in that, and we have to do whatever we have to do. They're setting us up to accomplish goals and accomplish plays. Now we need to do that better."
Mizzou Linebacker Michael Scherer
On the leadership on the defense:
"I think that the leadership on the team and the defense keeps it in control. We understand that we're a team. We control what we can control. There's no point in pointing fingers at anybody else, because you know that's not going to do you any good. We worry about what we can control and our mistakes. If we didn't let up 14 points, who knows what could have happened. We've got to worry about what we've got to worry about."
On how tough it is to be in a losing locker room:
"We're never in a losing locker room. Ever. I don't care what you say or what anybody says, this is never going to be a losing locker room ever. I don't care what our record is, I don't care what the score on the scoreboard is- nobody in that room is a loser, nobody looks at themselves as a loser. That will never, in any time that Mizzou football exists, that will never be a losing locker room."
Mizzou Defensive Lineman Charles Harris
On the interceptions thrown by Mizzou:
"Any time you have interceptions it's frustrating. No matter of offense, defense, it doesn't matter. It's definitely frustrating. But, like I said before, it's the flow of the game. It's just how things go. Things don't always go your way. When it doesn't, you've got to be ready to buckle up, go out there and go play."
Mizzou Quarterback Drew Lock
On the offense:
"It's a work in progress, obviously. There were a couple of times they ran an inside release and I thought they were going to be outside or an outside release and I thought they were going inside. That's just me learning a little bit more each week. That's one thing we'll be able to focus on this week and hit some deep balls next week."
On the pick-six that put Florida on top, 21-3:
"The pick-six was definitely a big play in the game. Obviously. Hats off to our defense for only holding them to 14 points, put 7 on me obviously. They played two-man, which is something they normally don't show to us. It's normally 4, 3, or 5, but I should have known that. I thought I could get it in there, but I should have played the other side."
On learning from his mistakes tonight:
"It's definitely part of the growing process. The bad part about it is that I expect that out of me right now, that's just the disappointing part. I beat myself up because I truly think that I can make every throw on the field when I need to and however I need to. It's just a disappointing part, obviously."
On how the offense couldn't continue the momentum from the opening drive:
"Those plays that we ran, we worked hard on during the week. They adapted to those plays pretty quickly and we tried to get something else out of it. Like you said earlier, they disguise coverages and they do a pretty good job of it. Hats off to that defense."
Mizzou Wide Receiver J'Mon Moore
On the loss:
"It's always frustrating when you lose, but we started off pretty good. We had some good looks and made some good plays, we just had little struggles. When you have so many struggles, the small things, they count. You can get a lot of small things and turn it into something big, but you've got to capitalize on it."
On how the team moves forward following the loss:
"Everything we do, we have confidence in something positive coming out of it. We've just got to clean up the little things, there's always something. There's always something going wrong, you know; somebody missing an assignment, somebody blowing something, so we've just got to get those little cracks."
Coach Pinkel | Mizzou Players | Florida Players
Florida Head Coach Jim McElwain
Opening Statement:
"Heck of a win for us. It wasn't pretty by any stretch of the imagination, so go ahead and pick it apart. We are going to enjoy it. Sometimes in this business you have to kind of win like that and I thought our offense got off to obviously a good, quick start and then our defense just kind of closed that door. I am not sure what they were on third down, but it sure seemed like they didn't have many, so we got off the field and that's huge. I think they kind of hit us in the mouth a little bit and maybe woke our defense up early in that game. I can't tell you man, I am just really proud of these guys. Let's talk about where we are at; it has been a pretty long stretch here and it has been a pretty emotional stretch just kind of how we have been playing and we needed to win a game like that. We didn't play great. In fact we played not very well offensively obviously, and yet our defense stepped up when it needed to and gave us a kick-start. The drive, the one kind of before half, we let 91 affect the game and he was a guy we were trying not to allow affect the game and he had back to back tackles for losses there and good players do that. But, you know I am okay with it."
On Florida defense:
"They are fun to watch when they focus and don't get silly. And what do I mean by that? Sometimes they lose focus on the prize, the prize being what we do on Saturdays and I haven't seen much of that lately. They are tuned in, they are locked in, challenging each other, and challenging the offense. It is fun to watch. I have to tell you man, they play the game fast too. They are definitely one heck of a unit. The fun part is now we get to break this game down, get it over with and we get to go on the road again, back to back, and play in one heck of an environment against a team that is playing great and obviously has been picked to beat us by a bunch. That's okay, we are going to go in and compete, and we will put a plan together. These are the things that are fun, when you do this. To go into an environment like that, one of the greatest environments there is when you are playing on the road, and it should be a good time."
On Drew Lock:
"One of the things we wanted to do going in was show something and then get to something else to give him a different look and it's hard on young quarterbacks when you are getting a bunch of different looks, believe me. I thought he played well and that guy is going to be one heck of an SEC quarterback."

Florida Players
Florida RB Kelvin Taylor
On how the running game can help the offense get going:
"I feel like it is really good for our offense, it opens up a lot of opportunities. We need to come back and watch film tomorrow and make sure the things we are doing are right, and if not find out what we need to do to fix it."
On the defense:
"They played exceptional. The offense kept it rolling and the defense did exactly what they needed to do. All together it was a team effort win and need to keep playing great ball for each other."
How did it feel to finally defeat Mizzou, after the two previous losses?
"Every game is a big win for us, as our coach says every game is the next big game no matter what the circumstance."
Florida DB Marcus Maye
On the game:
"I thought we handled it pretty well, our offense was great so we just wanted to feed off of that. It was a test for us to see how we come off of a big win from last week."
On if he had a sense of relief after his interception:
"I should have had the first one, but I just told myself I would get another one and that opportunity came my way and I took it."
On Mizzou's first drive:
"Yes that caught us by surprise. They definitely gave us some things that we did not see on film, but we adjusted and slowed them down the next drive."
Florida DB Jalen Tabor
On the defense:
"The game of football is based on downs. We hold up the money down on third down, and that's the down that we have got to get off the field."
What do you think about LSU next weekend?
"This will be my first time at LSU. I feel like there is a little bit of animosity built up between our two defenses and they are the best defense in the country and the best player in the country."
How do you feel overall about the game?
"Overall we still have not played our best defense. Missouri is going to make plays, and we need to make ours."
