Columbia, Mo. -
Mizzou senior Chris Rohr (Lee's Summit, Mo.) has been named Big 12 Conference Male Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, based on his performance in last week's Missouri Invitational, when he set a meet record by winning the men's weight throw with a best toss of 21.44 meters. The mark was also an NCAA provisional qualifier and puts Rohr atop the Big 12 standings board in the event for the 2009 indoor season.
The award marks the second Big 12 weekly award for Rohr in his standout Tiger career.
Rohr and his Tiger teammates will travel to Lawrence, Kan., this Friday for a renewing of an old-time track and field tradition – a good, old-fashioned dual meet between Mizzou and Kansas. Duals used to be the primary mode of competition for track, as the first dual between the border rivals dates back to 1901. Friday's dual, however, will be the first one between the schools since 1976 on the men's side, and it will mark the first-ever dual between the school's women's programs.
