Park was an excellent all-around athlete from Lexington, Missouri and a standout performer on the basketball hardcourt for legendary Tiger Coach Sparky Stalcup from 1952-55. Park was named all-Big Seven Conference as a senior in 1955 after averaging a career-best 15.4 points per game, becoming one of the league’s top players. MU went 53-34 in his four years and finished no worse than third every year in the Big Seven, including a second-place showing in 1955. He was named to Look Magazine’s all-America 5th-district team as a senior. He was also a talented baseball player who played briefly with the MU baseball team but chose to focus his collegiate efforts on basketball. Med went on to a solid professional career, playing 313 games in the NBA with the St. Louis Hawks and the Cincinnati Royals. He played on the 1958 World Champion St. Louis team that upset the Boston Celtics in the NBA finals. He became the first executive director of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in Springfield, Missouri and helped lay the foundation for the success of the organization. The Hall inducted him in 1992. He later served in a similar role with the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
