The winningest football coach in University of Missouri history (2001-15) and at the University of Toledo (1991-2000), Gary Pinkel ranked 20th for most wins in FBS history – and third among active coaches behind Virginia Tech’s Frank Beamer and Kansas State’s Bill Snyder – at the time of his retirement and is one of only three coaches to hold the winningest distinction at two Division I programs (Bear Bryant and Steve Spurrier are the others). At Mizzou, Pinkel posted a record of 118-73, won five conference division titles (Big 12 North – 2007, ’08, ’10; SEC Eastern – 2013, ’14), earned 10 bowl bids (with a record of 6-4), and finished ranked in the nation’s top-20 five times – fourth (2007), fifth (2013), 14th (2014), 18th (2010) and 19th (2008). He was the 2007 National Coach of the Year (FieldTurf) and a two-time conference coach of the year, taking the honor in the Big 12 in 2007 and the SEC in 2014. Pinkel coached 10 first-team all-Americans, three Academic all-Americans, three National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athletes and 79 first-team all-conference players. In December, Pinkel will become the sixth Missouri coach to be inducted into the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. Pinkel has been inducted into multiple other halls of fame, including the State of Missouri Sports, St. Louis Sports Commission, Mid-American Conference, Toledo Athletics, Kent State Athletics and Kenmore High School. Active in the community, he created the GP Made Foundation to help youth facing difficult challenges and he has raised more than $10 million for charitable causes.
