Alexander overcame serious knee injuries to become one of the top receivers in the nation as a senior in 2009, and one of the most prolific pass-catchers in Mizzou history. In 2009 he was a consensus all-American after leading the nation with 1,781 receiving yards on 113 receptions, with 14 touchdowns – all three marks broke Mizzou single-season records. Alexander ended his career with an MU-record 2,778 receiving yards and excelled in the classroom earning his undergraduate degree in sociology in three-and-a-half years. He turned in nine 100-yard receiving games in his record-setting senior season, including consecutive 200-yard games against Baylor (214) and at Kansas State (200). His next two games included 173 yards against Iowa State followed by a career-best 233-yard outing against Kansas (15 receptions, one touchdown) to cap an astounding four-week stretch. Alexander missed six games in his career and was hampered in others due to the severe knee injury he suffered in the 2007 Big 12 Conference championship game against Oklahoma, or his numbers would likely have been even more impressive. Included in the 15 passes he caught as a freshman in 2006 was a 74-yard TD reception in the Sun Bowl. He missed four games the next year due to injuries but improved his numbers to 37 receptions for 417 yards and two TDs, including a brilliant 8-catch, 117-yard performance in the 36-28 win over #2 Kansas at Arrowhead Stadium that catapulted the Tigers to the top of the national polls. As a junior in 2008, he was still working through recovery on his injured knee but played in 12 games and caught 26 passes for 329 yards and five touchdowns. Played three seasons in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams and the San Diego Chargers and caught 83 passes for 1,394 yards and 10 touchdowns before another knee injury ended his career.
