Tiger Leadership Institute (TLI)
The Tiger Leadership Institute (TLI) is a leadership development program designed to aid in shaping Mizzou student athletes into productive leaders while they are on campus, as well preparing them to be effective leaders after graduation. The program draws on the theory of authentic leadership and the UM Leadership Competency Model to assist student athletes in identity development, discovering their authentic leadership style, and how to best impact, lead and empower those around them.
Goals and Objectives
- Each TLI participant will increase their knowledge of their own authentic leadership development and other diverse leadership perspectives.
- Each TLI participant will develop supportive relationships with peers and TLI facilitators.
- Each TLI participant will learn about skills, strategies, and tools that effective leaders use.
- Each TLI participant will participate in a meaningful community service project with their team
What is a MizzouMade Leader?
A MizzouMade Leader:

Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
- Enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image
- Student-athletes will have the opportunity to plan events, collaborate with one another, and gain a better understanding of the athletic department
- Promote communication between athletics administration and student-athletes
- Provide feedback and insight into athletics department issues
Student-Athletes Fostering Equality (SAFE)
- Designed to recognize and celebrate differences by facilitating discussions related to societal issues
- Unite athletics and the campus community by preparing student-athletes to think critically and collaboratively towards fostering an inclusive environment
- Cultivate an environment of vulnerability that allows for personal growth and mutual respect
- Enhance the capacity of collectively engaging in conversations about challenging topics
- Develop and share leadership skills that are applicable in any environment
Champions Adjust (CHAMPS)
- Holistic leadership organization designed to support and nurture exceptional student-athletes, both academically and socially, who are the first generation to attend and/or complete a four-year degree
- Promote uniqueness in being a first-generation college student-athlete while providing blueprints to overcome barriers within the college experience
- Goal is to increase retention rates, APR scores, leadership involvement, and grade point averages for all first-generation student-athletes
