2005: At second base Sarah Stringer collected 84 putouts and 72 assists during Missouri's 44-15 campaign. Playing Big 12 regular season champion and fourth-ranked Texas A&M at home April 30, Stringer notched a season-high six putouts helping the Tiger's to a 6-5 victory over the Aggies. Stringer started 48 of the Tiger's games and finished the season tied with teammates Heather Kunkel and Kathy Masterson for most triples on the year (three), also recording the fifth-most doubles (nine). Impressive against ranked opponents, Stringer managed eight hits off of top-25 pitchers, five of which were for extra-bases (three doubles and two triples). Altogether, Stringer scored 28 runs, two coming against No. 6 Alabama on Feb. 19, at the Crimson Classic. In Missouri's April 16 home game against No. 4 Texas, Stringer crushed a two-out triple to left field, bringing in the game-tying run. Playing against No. 4 Texas A&M, May 1, at home, Stringer's home run over the center field fence scored the game-winning run that helped complete one of Missouri's 13 sweeps in 2005. Stringer blasted her third and final triple of the season in Missouri's May 12 Big 12 Conference Tournament opening game against Baylor.
2004: The first freshman with a hit in 2004, Stringer doubled in Missouri's first game of the season against Appalachian State on Feb. 6 at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. Stringer had three two-hit games and led the team in triples with two, coming in back-to-back games against Texas Tech at home (May 2) and No. 13 Nebraska in Lincoln (May 8). She led the Big 12 Conference with Texas A&M's Sharonda McDonald in triples. Against Texas Tech, the Auxvasse, Mo., native had five RBI; the most in one game. Recording a hit in each of Missouri's two games against Iowa State on April 28, Stringer slapped her fifth double of the season in the second inning of game one. A perfect 3-for-3 on May 8 against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Stringer was a home run away from hitting for the cycle. Playing right field, Stringer made a diving grab at the wall to help hold NU scoreless in the seventh inning. For her contributions at the plate and in the field, Stringer was named Big 12 Player of the Week on May 11. Stringer's biggest run scored in 2004 came in Missouri's 13-inning game against Oklahoma in the semifinals of the Big 12 Softball Championships, May 15. Stringer scored Missouri's game-winning run after lining a single through the left side with two outs, stealing second and scoring on a hit by Morgan LeCluyse. Stringer led the team alongside Kathy Masterson for most sacrifice bunts on the season (four) and scored the teams' fourth-most runs with 16, tying teammate Alli Kennewell. North Callaway High School: Coached by Terry Metcalf at North Callaway R-1 High School, Stringer was an All-Conference selection four consecutive years, All-District and All-Section for three years and was named All-State her junior (2002) and senior (2003) seasons. A four-time varsity letter winner in basketball, Stringer was also a member of the track team as a freshman and sophomore. Through all of her accomplishments, Stringer was named a two-time recipient of the Columbia Daily Tribune Player of the Year award was named Female Athlete of the Year as a senior.
Personal: Born Jan. 16, 1985, in Mexico, Mo., to parents Roger and Clare, Sarah is one of four daughters; Samantha (20), Kimber Nation (30) and Justine Trower (29). Stringer is a special education major.
