@MizzouMensGolf's Buckley Named Finalist for Byron Nelson Award

Honor given annually to graduating senior golfer who excels on the course, in the community and in the classroom
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Senior Hayden Buckley (Belden, Miss.) was recognized for his outstanding work as a complete student-athlete on Wednesday (March 21), as the Tiger was named a finalist for the Byron Nelson Award, presented by Srixon/Cleveland Golf.
Candidates for the Nelson Award must be a graduating senior and the selection committee considers equally a nominee's entire collegiate academic and golf career, as well as his character and integrity while in college. Particular consideration will be given to a nominee's good citizenship, as portrayed by Mr. Byron Nelson over the course of his life and golf career.
Buckley is an embodiment of the award, using his time to both impact the student-athlete experience at Mizzou and the local community. Already regularly involved in community service through the Tiger Leadership Institute and other MizzouMade initiatives, Buckley has also spent his time serving as a co-chairman of Mizzou's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
On the course, Buckley has been nothing short of impressive. With three tournament wins and five total Top-5 finishes, Buckley has compiled a strokes-per-round average of 69.14 to rank fifth nationally. Buckley was also recently named to the Fred Haskins Award Watch List, an honor given annually to the best men's collegiate golfer.
