Graduate senior guard averaged 19.0 points per game across the Tigers’ two wins
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mizzou Men's Basketball graduate senior guard Kassius Robertson (Toronto, Ontario) has been named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday. The weekly honor is the first for Mizzou since the midpoint of the 2013-14 season, when former guard Jordan Clarkson received the recognition on Dec. 30, 2013.
Robertson scored 16 points to tie for the team-lead in Mizzou's first-ever win vs. Kentucky (Feb. 3). He effectively iced the game for the Tigers, shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the final minutes to secure the victory over the No. 21-ranked Wildcats.
On the road at Alabama (Jan. 31), Robertson secured his fifth 20-point outing out of the 10 conference games played, thus far, recording 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting overall and 4-of-8 marksmanship from deep range. In both the Alabama and Kentucky wins, Robertson led the Tigers in assists with four dimes in both contests.
Robertson has averaged 17.1 points per game in conference play this season, with a 16.0 average in overall games. The Tiger guard has been the Black & Gold's leading scorer in 12 games. Through 23 games, Robertson ranks No. 9 on Mizzou's senior class single-season three-pointers chart with 67 triples. He is shooting a strong 41.4-percent from deep, which ranks sixth-best in the SEC.
Robertson's honor is the seventh time a Tiger has earned SEC Player of the Week since Mizzou joined the conference for the 2012-13 season.
