
Lutzow Named SEC Freshman of the Week

The Tiger freshman finished eighth at the JK Gold Classic in her collegiate debut
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Following a highly impressive collegiate debut, Mizzou Cross Country freshman Jenna Lutzow (Poplar Grove, Ill.) was named Southeastern Conference Cross Country Freshman of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday. Lutzow finished eighth overall at the JK Gold Classic on Saturday, one of four Tigers to post top-10 finishes.

The Tiger freshman clocked a time of 14:25.7 in the 4k race in Wichita, Kan., helping guide Mizzou to a first-place finish at the meet. Lutzow passed numerous runners down the final stretch of the race to earn the top-10 finish. She was one of four Mizzou runners to finish in the top-10, finishing behind redshirt sophomore Jordyn Kleve (Urbandale, Iowa), redshirt senior Kaitlyn Fischer (Pevely, Mo.) and redshirt senior Megan Cunningham (Eureka, Mo.), who crossed the finish line fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
At Belvidere North High School in Belvidere, Ill., Lutzow posted three top-three finishes at the 2A Illinois Cross Country State Championships, cultivating in a State Championship as a senior in 2016 when she finished with a three-mile personal record time of 16:35.00. She finished third at the meet as a sophomore in 2014 and second as junior in 2015. In track, Lutzow posted numerous top-10 finishes at the IHSA Girls State Track & Field Championships, including a runner-up finish in the 800m run in 2016 where she finished with a personal record time of 2:11.80.
Lutzow and the Mizzou Cross Country team will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 16, in Nashville, Tenn., at the Commodore Classic.
