Sophomore WR defeated plenty of obstacles to end up at Mizzou
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Football sophomore WR Dimetrios Mason broke onto the college football scene a year ago, emerging as one of the top true freshman pass-catchers in the game. A speedster with great hands and an unrivaled tenacity when the ball is in the air, Mason set a Mizzou record for the most receiving yards ever by a true freshman (587). His 47 catches were also the most ever by a Mizzou true freshman. In fact, the only Mizzou freshman to rank ahead of him at Mizzou was some guy named Jeremy Maclin, who of course redshirted his true freshman season.
Once dubbed the steal of Mizzou's 2016 signing class by his lead recruiter Ryan Walters, Mason grew up on Loganville, Ga., and has since brought his talents to Columbia. But if you think Mason's story began when he arrived in Columbia, think again. Watch Mason's story below to see how he used the game of football and support from a host of influential people to break the cycle.
