Mizzou’s SEC Network Takeover is slated for July 29
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Athletics is set to air anniversary documentaries of the historic 1997 and 2007 Mizzou Football season during its SEC Network Takeover on July 29. Mizzou Network has spent the last several months gathering exclusive interviews with key members from both the 1997 and 2007 teams for a pair of separate documentaries. Each documentary features highlights and in-depth insights as members of each team take a trip down memory lane to relive two of the most historic Mizzou Football seasons in memory.
The 1997 documentary, titled You've Gotta Believe, chronicles head coach Larry Smith's team as it makes a quest to end a 13-year bowl drought. Mizzou Network got first-hand accounts of the remarkable season from QB Corby Jones, RB Devin West, DL Steve Erickson and current Mizzou head coach Barry Odom, among others, for the 20-year anniversary of that team. You've Gotta Believe gives Mizzou fans the chance to relive memorable games such as the double-overtime thriller against Oklahoma State in Stillwater, a home victory over 1998 Heisman winner Ricky Williams and Texas, and a memorable win over Colorado in November that (spoiler alert) clinched Mizzou bowl eligibility. There is even exclusive footage of the 1997 Nebraska game, infamously labeled as the 'Flea Kicker Game.' In many ways, the 1997 team served as the launching pad for the rise of Mizzou Football in the 2000s. You've Gotta Believe will air twice during the Takeover, first at 11:30 p.m. (CT) on July 28 and again at 5:30 p.m. (CT) on July 29.

If the 1997 team heled to get Mizzou back in the right direction, then the 2007 team helped launch Mizzou onto a national stage and jump-started one of most successful runs for any program in the nation over the next seven seasons. Celebrating the 10-year anniversary of that team, the 2007 documentary is titled Mizzou, That's Who, after the now famous Sports Illustrated headline the morning after Mizzou defeated Kansas to earn the nation's No. 1 overall ranking. Mizzou, That's Who has exclusive interviews with Heisman Finalist QB Chase Daniel, TE Martin Rucker and RB Tony Temple, among others, and of course relives Armageddon at Arrowhead. The documentary is set to air at 6 p.m. (CT) on July 29, immediately followed by the complete games vs. Illinois and Kansas from that season.
