
Zoe Cross Named to England U19 National Team for UEFA U19 Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou soccer freshman Zoe Cross was named to England's Under-19 Women's National Team for the upcoming UEFA U19 European Women's Under-19 Championship, which will kickoff next week in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The Young Lionesses are one of eight teams remaining in the Championship.
Drawn into Group B, Cross and England open action on Monday, Aug. 8 against Italy. They then face Holland on Friday, Aug. 11 and close out group play on Monday, Aug. 14 in a match against France. The top two teams from groups A and B will advance to the semifinals, which is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 17. The final will be held on Sunday, Aug. 20. Should 2018 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup hosts France be among the semi-finalists then the third-place finishers in Groups A and B will contest a play-off on 17 August ito determine who completes the quartet.
Cross has helped the Young Lionesses qualified for the UEFA Under-19 after a perfect 3-0 record through the elite round. The squad recorded shutouts over Turkey (3-0), Denmark (2-0) and Czech Republic (7-0) to earn their spot in the Championship.
