Six Tigers Set to Compete at FINA World Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Six members of the Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete at the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. The Championships, which began on July 14 with open water and diving action, run through July 30.
Diver Lauren Reedy and swimmers Michael Chadwick and Hannah Stevens will represent the United States, while swimmers Jordy Groters and Mikel Schreuders will represent Aruba and Azra Avdic will compete for Peru. Reedy kicks off competition on Saturday, July 24, while swimming begins on Sunday, July 25.
Reedy will compete in mixed 3-meter synchro with diving Briadam Hererra, who dives at Miami (Fla.). The duo won the USA Diving mixed 3-meter synchro national title in April to earn their Worlds berth. Stevens, who won the 50m national title at the recent Phillips 66 National Championships, will swim that event at the upcoming event. Groters will race in the 50m and 100m breast, Schreuders in the 100m and 200m free, Avdic in the 100m and 200m fly and Chadwick will compete on the U.S.'s 4x100 free relay team.
Swimming preliminary action will be streamed live on OlympicChannel.com and NBC Sports Net (nbcsports.com) will stream finals live at 10:30 a.m. CT. Saturday's diving will be streamed live on OlympicChannel.com.
