COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou head soccer coach Bryan Blitz announced the promotion of Molly Schneider to associate head coach on Thursday. Schneider spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach for the Tigers.
"This is well deserved for Molly," Blitz said. "She has worked very hard to make our program better and take it to the next level. She's given a lot to Mizzou in her time here."
Currently in her second stint with the Mizzou program, Schneider returned to the Tigers in 2015 and serves as Mizzou's goalkeepers coach.
Under Schneider's tutelage, Tiger goalkeepers combined to post a 1.02 goals against average and eight shutouts over the last two seasons. Missouri allowed a program record low 17 goals during the 2015 season, lowering the old mark of 19 set in 2008. Additionally, the 2015 team's 0.84 goals against average was the second lowest in Tiger history. In Southeastern Conference play, the squad allowed only 10 goals in 11 matches for a 0.87 GAA, both league-leading marks.
Schneider also spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons as an assistant with the Tigers and was integral in helping Mizzou earn consecutive NCAA Tournament berths and claim the 2008 Big 12 Conference Tournament. The Tigers posted a combined 29-13-3 record in her two seasons in Columbia, including a school record 16 wins in 2008. During her final year at Mizzou, the program posted a record 0.8 goals against average and notched 12 shutouts. The Tigers allowed just 19 goals in their 23 games.
She started her collegiate playing career at Milwaukee (2002-03) before spending her last two seasons at Minnesota (2004-05). Schneider claimed All-Horizon League first and freshman team honors at Milwaukee before earning All-Big Ten first team and Soccer Buzz All-Great Lakes Region second team honors at Minnesota in 2005.
A native of Rochester, Minn., she earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science from Minnesota in 2006. She holds a USSF "C" license and an NSCAA level III Goalkeeping Diploma.
