COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri redshirt senior Lauren Reedy (Rochester Hills, Michigan) claimed 2017 Southeastern Conference Female Diver of the Year honors, the league announced on Thursday. Reedy was selected in a vote by the conference's head coaches.
In addition to Reedy's award, she and six other Tigers earned All-SEC honors for their performances at the 2017 SEC Championships. Reedy earned a spot on the All-SEC first team, seniors Michael Chadwick (Charlotte, North Carolina), Andrew Sansoucie (Wentzville, Missouri) and Fabian Schwingenschlogl (Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany), junior Hannah Stevens (Lexington, Kentucky) and freshman Daniel Hein (Sycamore, Illinois) claimed second team honors and freshman Micah Slaton (Austin, Texas) and Hein made the All-Freshman Team.
Reedy claimed her award after two All-America honorable mention honors and an SEC title at the Championships. She took home the 1-meter springboard crown at SECs with a meet-record score of 364.30 in finals, and placed fifth on 3-meter at the meet. She earned All-America honorable mention honors on both 1-meter and 3-meter at the 2017 NCAA Championships after winning both consolation finals.
In addition to her Female Diver of the Year honor, Reedy also took home the SEC Female Diver of the Meet at the SEC Championships. That award was voted on by the diving coaches and presented following the last night of competition.
The other six Tigers were honored based on the results at the 2017 SEC Championships. Chadwick and Stevens each notched runner-up honors in their respective events, Chadwick in the 100 free and Stevens in the 100 back. Additionally, Chadwick, Hein, Sansoucie and Schwingenschlogl were on Missouri's second-place 400 medley relay to claim their second team honors. Hein and Slaton made the All-Freshman Team as the top freshman finishers in their events. Hein took sixth overall in the 100 back and Slaton finished 18th in the 200 fly.
