Pingeton was tapped by the QEBH secret society
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Women's Basketball head coach Robin Pingeton was tapped on Friday by the QEBH secret honorary society during the 90th annual Mizzou Tap Day ceremony. Founded in 1898, QEBH is the oldest of the six secret honor societies at the University of Missouri.
Members are selected based on selfless dedication to the University, excellence in personal character and leadership achievements in the community.
"We are so proud of all of Robin's accomplishments, and in particular the way she represents the University of Missouri with class and respect," said Sarah Reesman, Executive Associate Athletic Director of Mizzou Athletics. "As a Mizzou alum, I know what an honor it is to be a part of Mizzou's renowned Tap Day. Robin is the definition of a selfless, passionate leader, who has made a lasting and positive impact on our student-athletes, the University and the Columbia community. This honor is so well-deserved. Robin will be an outstanding representative of the distinguished QEBH society."
Pingeton joins a host of notable Mizzou Athletics figures who have been honored by QEBH in recent years. The list includes former Tiger standouts Gary Link, Alyssa Diggs, Taylor Gadbois and Jarrett Sutton and former Mizzou head football coach Gary Pinkel.
"I am so proud of Coach Pingeton for the recognition she is receiving from QEBH and, as a Mizzou student, I realize how prestigious Tap Day is," redshirt senior Lindsey Cunningham said. "Robin has been so influential in my life. As much as she has taught me on the court, she has prepared me far more to be a confident, successful woman when the ball stops bouncing."
Every Mizzou Women's Basketball student-athlete who has completed eligibility under Pingeton has graduated. Under her guidance, the program has posted back-to-back record-setting semesters in the classroom, with the Tigers most recently finishing with the highest fall team GPA (3.29) in program history.
Pingeton was named the Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year after leading Mizzou to 22 wins, a program-record third-place finish in the SEC and wins in back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in program history. Mizzou had the biggest attendance increase in the nation in 2015-16 and ranked 31st in Division I in average home attendance in 2016-17, welcoming 52,008 total fans to Mizzou Arena during the campaign.
