TUCSON, Ariz. – Mizzou Women's Golf concluded play at the MountainView Collegiate on Sunday afternoon, finishing T-6th overall with Kansas State. The Tigers and Wildcats each produced an 888 final score over their respective three rounds this weekend.
"It was a big missed opportunity for us with such a good field," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "We didn't capitalize on a lot of opportunities that we had over the three days. We had too many double-bogies and execution errors. We can certainly get that fixed over the next week and half before we head to LSU."
Arizona dominated this year's MountainView Collegiate, producing an 850 overall score, marking a new team tournament record. The Wildcats from Tucson, Ariz., also won the individual trophy, as Wanasa Zhou had a record breaking tournament, highlighted by consecutive rounds of 65 over the first two days.
The Tigers were led wire-to-wire in Tucson by sophomore Emma Allen (Southampton, England), who finished tournament play 4-over-par (220). Allen started hot in the Arizona sun, carding a first round 3-under (69). However, over the last two days, she couldn't return to form, as she shot rounds of 77 and 74 to finish out her tournament. Allen finished T-16th in the individual race.
In the second slot after the first round for the Black and Gold was freshman Jess Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.), who used a strong final round to push her way into T-20th. Her third round 2-under (70) was her only round under par this tournament, and one of only three played by the Tigers all weekend.
Junior Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland) finished in the third slot for the Black and Gold this weekend. She played consistent golf all weekend, finishing the tournament at 9-over (225), placing T-39th overall. Senior Jess Meek (Carnoustie, Scotland) and sophomore Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.) finished 46th and T-53rd overall, respectively.
Mizzou's individual participants, Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) and Cherice Otter (Bloomington, Ind.) both played very well in their respective final rounds. Kim fired an even par (72) and finished T-27th, while Otter shot a 2-under (70), propelling her to T-39th overall. Redshirt Junior Mackenzie Perez finished 73rd in the individual ranks, tallying a 248 total score.
