Tigers remain perfect this fall, prep for final doubleheader this Saturday
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Softball continued its 2017 Fall Ball schedule this past Saturday (Oct. 21) with Jefferson College and Southeast Missouri State visiting Mizzou Softball Stadium.
The Tigers tallied two more wins over their recent doubleheader, improving their Fall Ball record to a perfect 6-0. Mizzou hosts one last double dip this Saturday (Oct. 28), as North Central Community College and Evangel visit Mid-Missouri.
Notables
- In game one vs. Jefferson College, sophomore Nalani Scates and redshirt junior Madi Norman performed well in the circle, limiting the opposition to two runs (both unearned).
- Scates received the starting nod and tossed four scoreless innings. The Tiger transfer RHP surrendered only two hits while striking out three. Norman closed out the opener with three innings and four strikeouts.
- Mizzou jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning following a hit from junior Rylee Pierce and two-run home run by redshirt junior Amanda Sanchez.
- Junior Regan Nash added another Tiger run in the third inning after she reached base on a bunt single and moved into scoring position with a stolen base.
- The Tigers added insurance with three runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by RBI from freshman Callie Martin and junior Kolby Romaine.
- Freshman Brooke Wilmes also starred at the plate, producing a multi-hit effort out of the eight hole in the Tigers' lineup.
- In Mizzou's doubleheader finale vs. SEMO, sophomore Eli Daniel and freshman Lauren Rice scattered two runs over seven innings of work inside the circle. Rice made her presence known quickly, striking out the side in her first inning.
- Mizzou struck first in the second inning, following base knocks from sophomore Cayla Kessinger, freshman Tajiah Ellison and Romaine.
- Two innings later, Kessinger and Martin got things rolling with a walk and base hit, respectively. Ellison and Wilmes later drove in the Tiger duo to extend their advantage.
- Sanchez and Kessinger were productive in the later innings as well to secure multi-hit efforts at the plate.
