COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track and Field will host the Missouri Invitational on Friday at the Hearnes Center, the first of two meets Mizzou will host during the 2017 indoor season. Field events will begin the meet at 2 p.m. CT, with track events to follow at 3 p.m. CT.
In addition to Mizzou, 10 other teams from the Midwest will send competitors to the meet, including Drake, Missouri State, Southeast Missouri State, SIU Edwardsville and Western Illinois.
The weight throw will kick off the kick off the meet, with redshirt freshman Patrick Kunza (Wentzville, Mo.) and redshirt senior Ahren Bohanan (St. Charles, Mo.) are slated to throw for the men and redshirt freshman Rebecca Keating (Reading England) for the women. In the shot put, redshirt sophomore Avery Carter (Lee's Summit, Mo.) and redshirt sophomore Gabi Jacobs (Bloomington, Ill.) – who both set personal record marks at the Border Battle on Jan. 7 – will throw for the Tigers.
After transferring from Nebraska, redshirt senior Mollie Gribbin (Monteplier, Vt.), a 2015 Big Ten selection and NCAA All-American, will make her Tiger debut in the triple jump.
In the track events, five Tigers who set personal records at the Commodore Invitational will race on Friday, including sophomore Maya Cody (St. Louis, Mo.), who ran the third-fastest 200m indoor time in program history at 24.55 in Nashville. Cody is scheduled to race in the 60m dash and 4x400m relay. Joining Cody in the 60m dash in senior LaQuisha Jackson (Chattanogga, Tenn.), who holds the 60m indoor school record with a 7.31 mark on Jan. 30, 2015.
The men's 800m dash field will be filled with Tigers as nine plan to take the start line, including redshirt junior Jerrad Mason (Bridgetown, Barbados), who finished fifth at the Commodore Invitational with a time of 47.91.
