#MIZTF DAY TWO RECAP
Once again, it was senior Ser Whitaker who kicked off the day's events for the Tigers, as he took to the track for the final five events in the men's decathlon. Coming in at 15th in the field after a point tally of 3827 during day one, Whitaker dropped back slightly to close at 16th in the field for a Second Team All-American honor.
It was the women's events that ruled the day, though, highlighted by junior Alyssa Applebee's podium finish in the pole vault. The first-time NCAA Championships qualifier jumped just under her PR to tie for seventh in the field with a final bar of 4.20m (13-9.25).
On the track, the women's 4x100m relay was first up for the Tigers. The squad of freshman Maya Cody, junior LaQuisha Jackson, senior Alyssa Felton and junior Sandrae Farquharson cruised to their fourth school record of the season, timing through in 44.31 for 13th in the field. The Second Team All-American finishers are the first 4x100m squad from Mizzou to make it into the NCAA Championships since the team of Kellee Eubanks, Lanita Little, Rose Jackson and Rufina Ubah placed eighth in 1984.
Farquharson, Jackson and Cody returned with Thames to close out the day's events in the 4x400m relay. The squad, who have broken the school record four times throughout the season, placed 18th in the field with a final time of 3:35.63.
In the individual events, junior Valerie Thames ran just off of her school record in the 100m hurdles (13.18) to earn a Second Team All-American honor with a 16th place crossing in 13.23.
#MIZTF DAY THREE PREVIEW
Senior Markesh Woodson will return to the track on Friday (June 10) for the men's 100m dash final. Woodson is ranked third in the event after timing through with a new PR of 10.03 during the preliminary round.
Also set to take the track on the final day of the men's competition is senior Tony Carodine and sophomore John Warren, who will face off in the triple jump competition at 7:30 p.m. CT.
