TORONTO - Former Mizzou Men's Basketball standout DeMarre Carroll missed a majority of his first season with the Toronto Raptors due to undergoing knee surgery on Jan. 3, but fans would not know it by his recent play in the NBA Playoffs. Carroll has reached double-digit scoring figures in seven of the Raptors' 14 games. His squad's 8-6 playoff record thus far has catapulted Toronto into the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, which start with Game 1 on Tuesday, May 17 (7:30 p.m., ESPN).
Carroll and the Raptors put away the Miami Heat on Sunday, May 15, in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, with the former Tiger scoring 14 points and grabbing five rebounds in his 13th start of the playoffs. Carroll knocked down two pivotal three-pointers in the win.
The 4-3 series win over the Heat has the Raptors into the conference finals for the first time in franchise history.
Mizzou fans remember Carroll as a forward who made 31.1 percent of his three-point field goal attempts (19-of-61) from 2007-09. In just the past two NBA seasons (Atlanta, 2014-15; Toronto, 2015-16), Carroll has impressively converted 39.3 percent of his attempts from three-point territory (166-of-422).
Carroll was a First Team All-Big 12 Conference selection for Mizzou after his final season and was a first round pick in the 2009 NBA Draft (27th overall, Memphis Grizzlies).
