Commencement exercises will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday
COLUMBIA, Mo. – A total of 72 current and former University of Missouri student-athletes will participate in graduation ceremonies this weekend as part of the University's commencement exercises.
The football program leads the way with 17 graduates, followed by men's track and field with eight, wrestling with seven, soccer and women's track and field with six, baseball, women's basketball and men's swimming and diving with five, softball and women's swimming and diving with three, men's golf and gymnastics with two and men's basketball, women's golf and tennis with one apiece.
Graduation has been a strong suit for Mizzou Athletics, as 97 percent of student-athletes who exhausted their five-year eligibility have earned degrees. In total, 58 percent of Mizzou's student-athletes recorded grade point averages (GPA) of 3.0 or higher in the Fall 2015 semester, all while logging more than 4,500 hours of community service with more than 55 organizations in Columbia and its surrounding communities. In fact, Mizzou's student-athletes posted a 3.03 GPA in Fall 2015 for the highest average over the last 10 years.
Additionally, four programs (men's golf, women's swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball) earned perfect 1,000 multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores and three other programs (women's basketball and men's and women's track and field) ranked within the top three of their respective sports in the Southeastern Conference.
