Sprague continues to make an impact in the Columbia community
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Sydney Sprague (Columbus, Ga.) was named to the 2016 Southeastern Conference Softball Community Service Team, as announced Wednesday by the league office.
Sprague was one of 13 recipients of this year's SEC Softball Community Service Team award. For the past 13 years, the SEC has highlighted an athlete from each institution who gives back to the community in superior service efforts.
The Columbus, Ga., native is one of many active community members on the Mizzou Softball team. Sprague has tallied over 18.0 community service hours the past two years outside her academic and athletic duties at the University of Missouri.
For two years, she has volunteered as an NSAD Special Olympics Buddy. During the current 2015-16 academic year, Sprague has volunteered her time with Mizzou Moves, the Mizzou Rally Club Field Trip, the CMN Kids Street Fair, Tiger Tots, Special Education at Oakland Middle School and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Wednesday's honor marks Sprague's second career accolade from the SEC league office, as she was also named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll in 2015.
