The Tigers closed their regular season on Saturday
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tigers took on their final regular season meet on Saturday (April 30), battling some stormy weather during the Memphis Tiger Invitational. The Tigers departed Memphis with 11 PR's, six event wins, and three All-Time Top Ten marks including a new school record in the pole vault from freshman Matt Ludwig.
Ludwig's performance in the pole vault certainly highlighted the day's events, as he took down the five-year-old record with a winning bar of 5.46m (17-10.75). The previous record of 5.36m (17-6.50) was held by Brian Hancock, a five-time All-American in the vault.
Other key performances include a pair of No. 2 All-Time marks in the women's pole vault and triple jump. Junior Alyssa Applebee continued her climb through the pole vault record books with a 4.19m (13-8.75) PR to take third in Saturday's field.
In the triple jump, senior Danielle Williams marked in with her second PR of the season. Her top mark of 12.43m (40-9.25) moved her into the No. 2 slot in the Mizzou record books.
The Tigers now look forward to the SEC Championships, set to be held in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in two weeks. For the latest on Mizzou Track & Field, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on Twitter @MIZ_TrackField.
