Boehm, McGovern, Brothers Selected in 2016 NFL Draft

COLUMBIA, Mo. – A trio of Mizzou Tiger football standouts saw their professional dreams come true today when they heard their names called in the 2016 NFL Draft, held in Chicago, Ill. Center Evan Boehm, guard Connor McGovern and linebacker Kentrell Brothers were selected Saturday by the Arizona Cardinals (4th round, 30th pick, #128 overall), the Denver Broncos (5th round, 5th pick, #144 overall) and the Minnesota Vikings (5th round, 23rd pick, #160 overall), respectively.
The haul of Tigers continued an impressive run for Mizzou, as MU has now had 12 players drafted in the last three years, which is the most during any three-year period since 13 went combined in 1979 (4), 1980 (2) and 1981 (7). Five Tigers were selected in the 2015 NFL Draft, preceded by four more picks in 2014.
Additionally, this marks the first time since 1983-85 that Mizzou has had a minimum of three players drafted in three consecutive years (three in 1983, five in 1984, three in 1985).
The duo of Boehm and McGovern marked the first time since 1989 that Mizzou has had two offensive linemen selected in the same draft (Carl Bax, Guard, taken in round 8, overall pick 200 to Tampa Bay / Curtis Wilson, Center, taken in round 9, overall pick 247 to New England). Mizzou has now had four offensive linemen drafted in the last three seasons.
Boehm, a four-year starter at Mizzou who set a school record with 52 career starts, joins former teammate Markus Golden, who was a second-round pick by the Cardinals in 2015 as a defensive lineman. McGovern joins the defending world champion Broncos, where he will join former teammate Shane Ray, who was a first-round pick of Denver a year ago.
Brothers was a first-team All-American and first-team All-SEC performer as a senior in 2015 after leading the NCAA in tackles, with 152.
