#MizzouMade golfers showing what they've got on the professional level
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Check MUTigers.com for periodic updates on former Mizzou Men's Golfers and their professional exploits. Head coach Mark Leroux's program has turned out some impressive golfers in recent years that have carried the #MizzouMade banner onward to the professional level.
Peter Malnati: Malnati's 2015-16 season on the PGA Tour continues to be a grand opening of sorts for the former Tiger golfer. He has finished in the top 10 in three events, including a T10 finish at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba (Nov. 15, 2015, -11) and a T6 finish at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions (Jan. 10, 2016, -17). However, the highlight of Malnati's 2015-16 campaign came at the Sanderson Farms Championship, where he won by finishing 18-under par over the course of the four-round tournament (69-66-68-67). The 468 points he has accumulated on the season is good enough to place him in 16th in the FedEx Cup standings. Aside from his performance on the course, Malnati has also found popularity among fans due to the fact that he keeps a personal blog that he frequently updates himself. He provides his readers with an inside look at life as a professional golfer.
Emilio Cuartero: After an illustrious career at Mizzou, Spaniard Emilio Cuartero currently finds himself on the 2015 European Challenge Tour. Although Cuartero's play has been inconsistent, he certainly has had his fair share of quality finishes on the tour. Cuartero placed in the top 10 three times in 2015, including a T9 finish at the Barclays Kenya Open (April 12, 2015, -11), and a T8 finish at the Northern Ireland Open (Aug. 9, 2015, -14). His greatest accolade, though, came towards the tail end of 2015 when he tied for eighth at the Kazakhstan Open, finishing the tournament 9-under par (71-71-71-66). Not only was this finish tied for his career low, it was also far and away his highest grossing moment as a professional. Cuartero has also played in three European Tour events during the 2015-16 season, including the Open de Espana (May 17, 2015, T73, +5), the Madeira Islands Open (Aug. 2, 2015, T46, -4), and the Made in Denmark Tournament (Aug. 23, 2015. T137, +7).
