Lauren Reedy Advances at USA Diving Winter National Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Redshirt senior Lauren Reedy (Rochester Hills, Michigan) of the Mizzou women's diving team advanced to the 1-meter springboard finals at the 2016 USA Diving Winter National Championships Thursday in Columbus, Ohio. Finals are scheduled for the evening of Sunday, Dec. 18.
Competing in 1-meter prelims, Reedy took fifth after she tallied a five-round score of 249.25. However, her prelims score, which carries over to Sunday's finals, is only five points behind the second-place. The top-two finishers on 1-meter finals at the Winter National Championships qualify to compete at the 2017 FINA World Championships, which will take place July 14-30 in Budapest, Hungary.
Reedy was the first of five total Tigers to compete at the Winter National Championships. She will also compete on women's 3-meter with juniors Alexa Beckwith, Kendra Kieser and Madeline McKernan will also compete on women's 3-meter prelims on Monday, Dec. 19. Additionally, she will dive in the mixed synchro 3-meter competition with sophomore Kyle Goodwin on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
Reedy, who finished third on 3-meter at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials, is an honorable mention All-American and Mizzou's 1-meter and 3-meter record holders. This season, she has claimed SEC Female Diver of the Week honors twice.
