
Chadwick Named CollegeSwimming National Swimmer of the Week

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Senior Michael Chadwick of the Mizzou men's swimming and diving team earned National Swimmer of the Week from CollegeSwimming.com on Tuesday. He won two events in Mizzou's Oct. 14 Southeastern Conference dual against Alabama.
Against the Crimson Tide, Chadwick swept the 50 free and 100 free races, easily beating the field with times of 19.81 and 43.28, respectively. His 50 free time stands as the fastest time in the nation this year, while his swim in the 100 free ranks second nationally. He also owns the second-fastest 200 IM time in the country after recording a time of 1:49.16 at the Show-Me Showdown on Oct. 7. Additionally, Chadwick has won all four individual events he has raced so far this season.
Chadwick stands as the most decorated Tiger in program history with a total of six first team and nine honorable mention All-America honors in his career. He placed fourth in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free at the 2016 NCAA Championships, as well as taking fifth in the 100 free at the Championships in 2015. Chadwick owns Mizzou's 50 free (19.04), 100 free (41.89) and 200 free (1:33.64) school records. He is also a member of the 2016-17 USA Swimming National Team after a top-six finish in the 50 free at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
The Tigers next hit the pool Nov. 4-5 for a two-day meet against Kentucky, Northwestern and Southern Illinois in Lexington, Ky.
