Fall World Series Game Four Ends in 6-6 Tie

Black ties game with one out in the bottom of the seventh
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Game four of Mizzou Baseball's Fall World Series ended in a 6-6 tie on Tuesday afternoon. Five different players had RBIs for Team Gold, led by Armaan Painter (Atlanta, Ga.) who had two. Kameron Misner (Polar Bluff, Mo.) also had a pair of hits, including an RBI triple. Team Black hit a pair of homers, both solo shots from Brian Sharp (Liberty, Mo.) and Matt Berler (Hoover, Ala.). Black tied the game on an error in the bottom of the seventh.
Team Black got on the board first as sophomore Brian Sharp (Liberty, Mo.) launched a homer over the right centerfield fence off of Gold starter Ty Shoaff (Akron, Ohio), giving Team Black an early 1-0 lead. It was Sharp's first homer of the Fall World Series.
Gold countered immediately as an RBI single by Painter and an RBI double by Kirby McGuire (Round Rock, Texas) led to a pair of runs in the top of the second.
Matt Berler (Hoover, Ala.) homered for Team Black in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 4-2 and that prompted a pitching change as RHP Ryan Lee (Grandview, Mo.) took over Team Gold. Black then tallied two more runs, tying the game on a bases-loaded single by CF Johnny Balsamo (Kansas City, Mo.).
The back-and-forth affair as Team Gold added three more in the top of the fourth, reopening a 6-4 lead, before Black came back with one more on an RBI single by Chris Cornelius (St. Louis, Mo.) to pull within one a 6-5.
Things stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh when Black tied the game on an error by RF student manager Aron Salzberg, who lost a ball in the sun, scoring the tying run. That game ended after a strikeout stranded the winning run at second.
Game five of the Fall World Series will be Friday at 6 p.m. at Taylor Stadium.
