Luebbert scored both Tiger goals in Mizzou’s 2-1 win over Vanderbilt
COLUMBIA, Mo. – For the third time this season, Mizzou soccer freshman forward Sarah Luebbert (Jefferson City, Mo.) was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Luebbert is the only freshman to claim the honor more than once and one of two SEC players to earn a total of three weekly awards this season.
Against Vanderbilt on Oct. 14, Luebbert scored both Tiger goals in Mizzou's 2-1 win. She put Missouri ahead with a tally in the 14th minute, then, with the score tied, slotted home the game-winner in the 59th minute to give Mizzou its 10th win of the season.
The freshman leads the Tigers with 21 points on nine goals and three assists on the season and ranks fourth in the SEC in goals per game (0.69) and fifth in points per game (1.62). Her 21 points are the most for a Mizzou player since Alysha Bonnick recorded 21 in 2010. Additionally, Luebbert currently ranks third on both Mizzou's all-time freshman goals and points lists. She needs only two goals to tie Bonnick's freshman goals record of 11, set in 2007.
The Tigers return to the pitch on Thursday, Oct. 20 as the travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to face No. 12 Arkansas at 7 p.m. live on SEC Network +.
